You don’t just read the words. You go and find them.

Find & Say is built on active learning. Instead of reading a list, you look for each word or sound, spot it, then say it aloud. The books and the cards use the same idea in different ways.

Find the word in the grid, then say it

Each puzzle lists French words with their English meanings. To circle one, you have to search the grid letter by letter, so you engage with the word instead of skimming past it. A Say it sentence then turns the word into something you can speak.

Spot the sound in the word, then say it

Each card shows one French sound and practice words that share it. The sound is picked out in colour and silent letters are grey, so you see what to say and what to leave out. A short sentence then puts the sound to work.

    Why these books exist

    We created these books because we wanted a low-pressure way to build French vocabulary for ourselves and our families, and to keep going. Every book began with a human idea and a simple question: how do we make learning enjoyable enough that we want to keep doing it?

    AI helped with brainstorming, organizing, generating and refining the puzzles and the music. The direction, selection and review are human.

    What is a French–English bilingual word search?

    It is a word search where the hidden words are French and each one is printed with its English meaning. You find the French word in the letter grid, then say it aloud. Find & Say books add a sentence to say on every puzzle page.

    Who are the Find & Say books for?

    Adults building everyday French vocabulary through short, manageable activities. The books are not written for children and do not use childish rewards.

    Are the books large print?

    Yes. Every book uses 12×12 grids with large-print letters on 8.5 × 11 inch pages.

    Which book should I start with?

    Start with the situation you care about most. All About Me if you want to introduce yourself and hold a first conversation; Travel & Getting Around if you want the words for a trip; Parents & School if you want to talk with your child’s school. Each book stands on its own.

    Do the books have answers?

    Yes. Each book has an answer key with every solved grid.

    Is the French European or Canadian?

    The books teach standard everyday French. Some entries use Canadian forms, such as courriel for email.

    What are the companion songs?

    Every book has its own set of bilingual songs built around the book’s vocabulary. The songs are created with generative AI under human creative direction. The Songs page lists the links.

    Will word searches make me fluent?

    No book does that alone. Find & Say books are for building and practising vocabulary alongside other ways of learning French.
